Individual Assistance

In addition to the services we offer through our group peer support and healing activities, we can provide access to individual peer-to-peer support upon request. This support consists of being introduced to someone who has been through a similar experience and can be available to answer questions you may have and generally provide friendship and understanding.

Healing Justice also occasionally receives requests to provide direct support and/or referrals to community resources that may be able to assist them. While Healing Justice is not a social service agency, we are able to provide limited direct support to individuals upon request. Specifically, Healing Justice can assist individuals with:

  • Lists of support resources created by Healing Justice.

  • Additional information on how to find local support services and key resources in your area that may be able to assist you, such as information on how to find medical care, mental health care, and community organizations to help meet your immediate needs.

  • Referrals to local and national crisis hotlines.

  • Opportunities for individual, one-on-one peer support.

The following is a specific list of services that Healing Justice is NOT able to provide:

  • Case management services.

  • Financial or cash assistance.

  • Paying for housing, deposits, or hotel costs.

  • Direct therapy or psychological services.

  • Legal advice or obtaining legal counsel.

  • Responding to crisis/emergency situations.

  • Support for individuals who have not been affected by wrongful convictions.

Please note that this individual assistance is currently limited to (1) individuals and families who have attended a Healing Justice Retreat, and (2) individuals referred by partner organizations. We do not currently have the capacity to accept other requests for individual assistance. In addition, Healing Justice does not have the capacity to serve as a clearinghouse, case manager, or long-term resource provider. Finally, while Healing Justice is located in the Washington, DC, area and serves individuals from across the country, we do not have staff on the ground in other states; thus, all assistance by us is provided remotely by phone and/or email.

If you fall within the guidelines described above and are in need of individual assistance, please contact us at info@healingjusticeproject.org.
