New Peer-to-Peer Support for the Exonerated

At Healing Justice, we know that freedom after exoneration is a life-changing moment that leaves many people asking: “what’s next?”

We have created a new peer-to-peer support resource that will help answer this question and provide guidance as the exonerated and their families navigate the days, weeks, months, and years following exoneration.

The guidance offered in this unique new resource comes from exonerees who reflected on their own experiences and challenges, and offered recommendations for rebuilding and recovering. Our hope is that these recommendations will be useful to others as they navigate their own journey to rebuild and recover. We also hope others will recognize that they are not alone; many people have come before and faced similar obstacles and emotions.

We also hope that this resource will be particularly helpful during these difficult global times when obtaining in-person support is limited. Like the peer-to-peer videos we released last month for crime victims and survivors, this new virtual resource can be utilized from the safety and comfort of one’s own home.

Healing Justice would like to thank all of the individuals who collaborated with such patience and dedication to bring this peer-to-peer resource to life. We owe you a debt of gratitude for your commitment to helping others on their path to healing. We also want to thank Rachel Anderson for brining the resource to life through her beautiful design.
